"I would like to take a few moments and share a story about my miraculous experience with Data Recovery Services of San Francisco. I don't normally write reviews, but if it weren't for these guys, I don't know where I would be today.
One day, completely out of the blue, my HP laptop crashed. In retrospect, it was foolish of me to not have foreseen this -- the laptop has been acting strange, and it was way hotter than usual and working kind of slow. Something was wrong, and I knew it, but being what I am, I didn't make a backup of all my files like I should have. And the files were my LIFE -- I stored everything on my computer, my work, my old emails, family photos, music, my passwords, even things pertaining to my hobbies (I must have had sheet music for a thousand songs stored on the computer, only a portion of which I ever printed out on paper). My life came to a grinding halt!
I tried to get help from HP. Now, mine is a bit of a special case because I was running with RAID 0, which a friend set up for me a year earlier. I had a technician come in and try to figure out what went wrong to cause the crash. He found that the power supply failed and had to replace it along with my motherboard. Well, for those of you who had the wonderful experience of having a motherboard replaced know that this is kind of dangerous, and you can share in my pity when I was told that all my data was lost. Irrecoverably LOST. I spend days on the phone with HP, being told by one representative after another that there was nothing I could do. The most helpful advice I was able to receive was to "reformat and move on". I got a hold of the supervisor who essentially told me the same thing, that the information was lost -- lost forever and ever, and there was absolutely nothing that I nor anyone could ever do about it.
Now, I'm very persistent, if even naively stubborn, and I refused to take "no" for an answer. I spent days on online forums and searched the web inside and out for any advice. And this is where I came across Data Recovery Services of San Francisco. Their courtesy and professionalism were highly reassuring. They kindly told me they dealt with the sorts of issues I had on a daily basis, and that there was hope for me after all. Not only did they retrieve all the critical documents, pictures, and all my music, but they were even able to restore my settings, my old emails in Outlook, and a large portion of the software I had installed. Obviously, not everything could be restored since a good chunk of the hard drive was wiped completely -- but believe me, after a week of being told by others that EVERYTHING was lost, and that there was absolutely nothing that anyone could do for me, this was really nothing short of a MIRACLE.
I am very glad that I chose Data Recovery Services of San Francisco. They are an amazing group of people, and they obviously care about what their customers are going through. They really saved my life -- If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would!

"I got a virus that overwrote the master boot record in an attempt to corrupt all my data. I spent weeks trying to figure it out - I bought a secondary hard drive, bought Norton Ghost, had my friend go at it, tried the recovery disks, followed a bunch of online guides... but whatever the heck that virus was, it was a nasty one! I spent over $200 on hardware and software in an attempt to solve the problem. Finally decided to give in and try San Francisco Data Services. They told me what the problem was and had me back up and running in no time! They obviously knew what they were doing, because I'm not exactly an idiot around computers, but spent weeks trying to figure it out, and San Francisco Data Services had it back to me in a day.
